The Reserves

One of the things that really sets me apart from other slide lamp shade makers (apart from sheer quality and variety) is my ability to create unique themes using my massive slide inventory.

It allows me create shades using entirely pictures of sunsets.  Or clouds.  Or caution signs.

I sort, count, and label every slide so I can provide my customers with the most comprehensive collection of slides within any given theme.  I have literally hundreds of themes, but here are just a few:

Three Gorges in China
A 1960s wedding anniversary
Red Cardboard Mounts
Bangkok
India
England
Children
Animals
Asian architecture
Signs
Mountains
Water
Rivers
Deserts
People
Waterfalls

...and much more!

Here is my latest creation.  The theme is cemetery and funeral slides.  You can check it out at my website honeysucklecreations.etsy.com.  You can also purchase through the website, cost for this lamp shade is $45.

FAQ

Welcome to the Honeysuckle Creations blog!

I get a lot of questions about the lamp shades I make.  They are very unique creations ... lamp shades made entirely of vintage slides!  You can see all my work at my esty store, Honeysuckle Creations.  In the meantime, check out some of my favorite questions below!

q : How did you come up with this idea?

a : About five years ago I found a small box of slides at a thrift store.  I needed a lamp shade.  Voila!  The idea was born!  Then all my friends loved the idea, and said I should make and sell shades like that.  Although I do have to say, like with any good invention, a lot of people have come up with similar ideas.  I just make my shades better than anyone else ;-)

q : Where do you get all those slides?

a : I find slides all over the place... thrift stores, estate sales, internet, little old ladies who don't know what to do with slides they don't want.

q : How many slides do you have?

a : I have around 10,000 slides in stock.  I make my shades according to theme, so I sort each and every one according to category.  It takes a lot of time, but it is totally worth it.

q : Why don't you sell lamps with your shades?

a : I can either jack the price and S&H and send a lamp ... or you can go to a local thrift store and pick one up for a buck.  Besides, when you put a slide lamp shade on a lamp, no one is going to care what the lamp looks like.  They will be too busy checking out the shade!

q : Can I make my own pictures into slides for you to make a shade?

a : Yes!  At iprintfromhome.com and slides.com you can turn a digital file into a slide for around $2.50 each.  But sometimes your local photography shop can do it for cheaper.

Have any more questions for me?  Comment, and I'll include answers in my next blog!
